Traveling to
Twin Lakes
The Wolf Den is located in Twin Lakes, Colorado, within the heart of the Rockies. A 30-minute drive will deliver you to either Buena Vista or Leadville, the nearest towns adjacent to Den. Independence Pass connects Twin Lakes to Aspen via a wonderful 1-hour scenic drive from about June 1 through mid-October. Other nearby towns include Salida, Breckenridge, and more.
The closest airport to the Wolf Den is Eagle County Regional Airport in Vail, approximately 1.5-hour drive from the house. However, most folks traveling by air fly through Denver International Airport and make the 2.5-hour drive to the Den. Colorado Springs Airport is also approximately 2.5 hours by car to the Den.
If traveling during winter, please check CDOT and consider the road conditions when planning your drive. We recommend driving a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to ensure safe passage on the interstate and highways. This is not necessary during the summer/fall months, but spring weather can be unpredictable!
