With Colorado’s tallest peak rising in the distance, couples exchange vows and start their new life together in a picturesque Central Colorado mountain setting.
Elegant. Low-key. And focused on what matters most: families gathering together in nature to celebrate this special moment.
During the months of late May through mid-October, outdoor weddings take place on the flagstone patio with spectacular views of Mt. Elbert and Twin Lakes.
A large, protected gazebo on the eastern side of the home serves as an excellent spot for seated dinners, receptions, dancing or a backup ceremony location in case of bad weather.
The Wolf Den is our family’s mountain home — not a commercial wedding venue — thus, we enforce strict rules that preserve the beauty of our property. We welcome event requests from guests who similarly value caring for our high-altitude landscape, appreciating the serenity of nature, and being mindful of the tremendous amount of love and care that goes into maintaining our home.
We limit the number of weddings at our home, and will no longer be reserving events in 2019. Availability in 2020 is limited to select dates in September and October. Thank you for your understanding!
“The Wolf Den was absolutely impeccable! My wife and I chose this place to have our wedding and reception, and I would choose it over and over again. Plenty of space, surreal views, and an overall breathtaking weekend of which neither of us wanted to leave.”
The Wolf Den is a private 5 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom mountain home that sits on nearly 6 quiet acres of wooded land. From the back patio, guests enjoy a picturesque view of Mt. Elbert, Colorado’s tallest peak, and the glacial waters of Twin Lakes. In addition to serving as a family retreat for short-term rental guests, the Wolf Den also welcomes events hosted exclusively outdoors on the flagstone patio or the home’s nearby gazebo.
Overnight Guest Capacity
The home’s nightly rental rate includes 12 guests; a $25 per person, per day “additional guest” fee will apply for overnight guests exceeding 12 to a maximum of 16. Additional guests exceeding 16 are not permitted, unless at owner’s discretion. Twelve guests are accommodated in beds; additional guests may use one queen-size sofa bed or one queen-size air mattress.
The Wolf Den welcomes outdoor events hosting fewer than 12 guests or up to 75 guests. Events with greater than 75 guests will not be permitted.
Event rental of the Wolf Den guarantees the exclusive use of the home and grounds. An event venue fee includes other amenities, such as:
Venue Coordination: Each couple receives a current and vetted list of local vendors who offer services in the Lake County area. During your planning process, the homeowner, Gretchen, remains accessible to communicate with vendors regarding the home’s amenities. Couples may utilize optional day-of venue coordination that includes a representative on site for the duration of your event. This is discussed between the couple and homeowner, depending on the complexity and number of guests at your event.
Property Tours: The couple/vendors/family members are granted access to tour the exterior of the property prior to your event, as needed. These meetings must be coordinated with the homeowner.
Amenities Available for Vendors: This includes the use of the kitchen and appliances by caterers for warming, traying and chilling food; use of electrical for music and/or lighting; use of garage for storage or staging of floral and/or other décor.
Parking: Strict parking rules apply. The homeowner will go over parking guidelines with each couple prior to an event, and (depending on number of guests) shuttle service from a designated parking lot and the house may be required for your guests’ safety and comfort.
Recycling and Trash Removal: Guests must make recycling receptacles available to visitors during events at the Wolf Den. Collapsible recycling bins and clear bags are provided. The venue fee includes the cost of recycling and trash removal.

ABSOLUTELY NO rice, rose petals, glitter or confetti, etc., thrown anywhere on the grounds.
