TRAVEL
For those traveling from out of state, Denver International Airport is recommended for air travel. A rental vehicle will be needed to drive from Denver, a 2.5-hour trip.
FITNESS
The retreat itinerary will serve both beginners and intermediate yogi-hikers. All-level yoga flow led by Beth Holland will welcome those new to yoga and also include playful challenge for those wishing to deepen your practice. Hike leader Gretchen Sparling will customize treks for women of all skill levels. All hikes will be paced for women traveling from lower altitudes, and we will not leave anyone behind. Please consult with your physician prior to registration, if you have any concerns.
ALTITUDE
The Wolf Den sits at 9,475 ft. elevation. Many guests will be traveling from lower elevations, and that means we will allow our bodies to gently acclimate. Drinking lots of fluids prior to travel and during your trip, as well as getting plenty of fresh air, helps. That said, don’t be surprised if rolling up into Mountain Pose makes you a little dizzy the first few times.
Be prepared to give yourself a little grace, and to feel out of breath (and perhaps a little light headed) during some physical activities. Consult with a physician prior to registration, if you have concerns.
DIETARY NEEDS
All meals — with the exception of a catered dinner the last evening — will be prepared by Gretchen and the Zen at the Den team. We designing menus while keeping in mind various dietary preferences and needs, including allergies. Please provide your dietary needs to Gretchen during the registration process.
WHAT TO BRING
Travel with clothing you can move in, including yoga clothes for daily practice. Comfortable hiking shoes — not necessarily boots — are recommended. (Think trail-running shoes or something with a durable, grippy tread.) Yoga mats and props are provided.
