TRAVEL

For those traveling from out of state, Denver International Airport is recommended for air travel. A rental vehicle will be needed to drive from Denver, a 2.5-hour trip.

FITNESS

The retreat itinerary will serve both beginners and intermediate yogi-hikers. All-level yoga flow led by Beth Holland will welcome those new to yoga and also include playful challenge for those wishing to deepen your practice. Hike leader Gretchen Sparling will customize treks for women of all skill levels. All hikes will be paced for women traveling from lower altitudes, and we will not leave anyone behind. Please consult with your physician prior to registration, if you have any concerns.

ALTITUDE

The Wolf Den sits at 9,475 ft. elevation. Many guests will be traveling from lower elevations, and that means we will allow our bodies to gently acclimate. Drinking lots of fluids prior to travel and during your trip, as well as getting plenty of fresh air, helps. That said, don’t be surprised if rolling up into Mountain Pose makes you a little dizzy the first few times.

Be prepared to give yourself a little grace, and to feel out of breath (and perhaps a little light headed) during some physical activities. Consult with a physician prior to registration, if you have concerns.

DIETARY NEEDS

All meals — with the exception of a catered dinner the last evening — will be prepared by Gretchen and the Zen at the Den team. We designing menus while keeping in mind various dietary preferences and needs, including allergies. Please provide your dietary needs to Gretchen during the registration process.

WHAT TO BRING

Travel with clothing you can move in, including yoga clothes for daily practice. Comfortable hiking shoes — not necessarily boots — are recommended. (Think trail-running shoes or something with a durable, grippy tread.) Yoga mats and props are provided.

PAYMENTS & CANCELLATIONS

"This was my 2nd time attending Zen at the Den. Every single part of the stay was fantastic. From the hostesses, yoga, hiking, the conversations with other guests to the stellar FOOD, I'm so grateful. The beautiful house overlooks the Twin Lakes and has gorgeous mountain views. This was just the thing I needed for a rest and recharge. Highly recommend."

"This trip was a breath of fresh air! A great break from everyday life! The women I met were wonderful, the hiking was awesome as well as the yoga (which was very new to me). Loved the food, the hospitality and friendships made. Highly recommend this experience!"

"Amazing facility. Best of the best staff. Stunning views. Enough to do to avoid being bored, but not too much to feel stressed. Straight up good for the soul."

"I found the Wolf Den retreat as I was searching for a way to celebrate my 60th birthday in Colorado. I can't say enough good things about the retreat! The house was beautiful; the view was breathtaking. The ladies on retreat were so accepting and positive. I made the journey alone but felt connected from the beginning. Gretchen is a fabulous host and such an awesome chef—the food and wine were superb and plentiful. The yoga instructors were top-notch. As worried as I was about a longer hike, Lost Mans Pass was the perfect challenge. I highly recommend this adventure to anyone looking for a special experience. Bring a friend or sister along for more fun. But if you make the trip alone, you won’t regret it."

If there is one word to describe the yoga retreat at The Wolf Den, it is magical. The scenery was breathtaking and the agenda perfect. The week was balanced with yoga, hiking, meditation, massage, good food, and wine. The Wolf Den is the coziest spot to warm up next to the fire, do yoga in the fresh mountain air, and eat dinner while watching the sun set over the Twin Lakes and Rocky Mountains. The week was both physically and mentally challenging as well as relaxing and inspiring. Gretchen was a tremendous host. She seemed to have thought of every detail in the house, the menu, and the schedule. The timing of each event was perfectly planned and exactly what I needed (ie- yoga after hiking). It was the perfect amount of time for a girls getaway. I left the Wolf Den inspired, relaxed, and full of new goals and friendship. I would recommend the retreat for anyone of any fitness level that wants to push themselves, and also relax and reset from the busy lifestyles we all lead!

I have been to the yoga and hiking retreat at the Wolf Den the past two years, and both years have exceeded my expectations. At first, I thought, who are the ladies who would attend this and who will I be sharing a space with? Then it came to me ... they would be like me: strong, balanced or having the desire to be balanced and confident (whatever that means to each person). Each year I have left the retreat with peace and energy to take on what life is going to deliver to me, plus extra friends and the desire to do it again. Thank you, Wolf Den and to you, Gretchen, for making my experience at the retreat challenging and restful at the same time. Plus, a big shout out to the WolfPack9 and my Zen Ladies – I can’t wait to meet again at The Den over a glass of wine and wonderful food after an amazing day of hiking and yoga.

I took part in a yoga and hiking retreat at The Wolf Den. The house is spacious and comfortable for a family or group, and perfect for our retreat. The views from the back of the house are simply stunning. There is a gorgeous pavilion on property where we practiced yoga daily. Host Gretchen put on an amazing weekend for 8 of us ladies. She was organized, welcoming and incredibly detailed with everything from the delicious meals, to the schedule, fresh flowers, welcome bags and guiding us through hikes in the area. I would highly recommend a retreat if you’re looking to relax, be active, make new friends and open to new experiences. I’m so glad I went for it! Thank you Gretchen!
